{"id":1566,"date":"2011-03-16T11:18:44","date_gmt":"2011-03-16T15:18:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/maryrajotte.com\/blog\/?p=1566"},"modified":"2011-03-16T15:57:29","modified_gmt":"2011-03-16T19:57:29","slug":"wip-wednesday-is-kicking-ass-taking-names","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maryrajotte.com\/blog\/2011\/03\/16\/wip-wednesday-is-kicking-ass-taking-names\/","title":{"rendered":"WIP Wednesday is Kicking Ass &#038; Taking Names"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#39;ve been plugging away on a few stories for months now and finally, I feel like my hibernating creativity is starting to come back to life again.<\/p>\n<p> I managed to finish one short yesterday, got to work on editing a second and jotted down some notes and did a little brainstorming on a 3rd which I hope will be the first of the stories I plan to put up on Amazon, Smashwords, et al.<\/p>\n<p> It&rsquo;s silly how, in asking a few of my writing buddies if they&rsquo;ll have time to give my stories a once over, I still get nervous.<\/p>\n<p> I always feel this way, though (and don&rsquo;t even get me started on how long I go back &amp; forth with myself before hitting [SEND] on a story submission).<\/p>\n<p> I guess I&rsquo;ve spent so much time trying to get the words down and working toward make sense of the images in my head that I&rsquo;m afraid the story won&rsquo;t measure up to the idea I started with.<\/p>\n<p> Either way, I would be nowhere without the input a fresh set of eyes can bring, and I actually look forward to them ripping my story to shreds if it needs it.<\/p>\n<p> After those initial stages of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> denial <em>(I can&#39;t believe they don&#39;t like my story!)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>anger <em>(WTF? There&rsquo;s red pen all over this thing!)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>bargaining <em>(maybe if I send them a lengthy email explaining my motivation, they&rsquo;ll get it&#8230;)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>depression <em>(Nothing I write will ever be good again!)<\/em><\/li>\n<li> and acceptance <em>(Well, maybe they&rsquo;ve got a point here&#8230;)<\/em>, that is.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All I want is to entertain and not fall flat on my face in the process.
