{"id":1578,"date":"2011-03-22T14:52:10","date_gmt":"2011-03-22T18:52:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/maryrajotte.com\/blog\/?p=1578"},"modified":"2011-03-22T14:52:10","modified_gmt":"2011-03-22T18:52:10","slug":"here-we-are-now-entertain-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maryrajotte.com\/blog\/2011\/03\/22\/here-we-are-now-entertain-us\/","title":{"rendered":"Here We Are Now, Entertain Us!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I like to think I can rock a manuscript with the best of &lsquo;em.<\/p>\n<p> That&rsquo;s not to say I don&#39;t have to spill a little red (or in my case, purple) ink when it comes time to make that baby look pretty and smile for the cameras.<\/p>\n<p> In a perfect world, all it would take is a chant of &ldquo;Mecca lecca hi, mecca hiney ho!&rdquo; and my manuscript would come pouring from my pen, fully formed and ready to send your nerves a&rsquo;quiverin&rsquo;.<\/p>\n<p> But in reality, some days the words come and other days, they need a little extra coaxing. And more coffee.<\/p>\n<p> I&rsquo;ve come to realize that sometimes I&rsquo;m a little too Hansel and Gretel for my own good. Laying out plot points like tantalizing little tidbits of terror, but sometimes taking too long to spring the true horror on you at the very end.<\/p>\n<p> So, I&#39;ve been trying to remedy that as a way of improving my storytelling. Making the journey toward that tasty finale decidedly more short-lived, while still trying to give you what you want, in a succinct, spine-chilling little package.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p> That doesn&rsquo;t necessarily mean I&rsquo;ll be killing off my darlings on page 1. After all, I am a horror writer.
