I spent most of the day researching writing programs at universities. The Western program sounds good, but it isnâ't offered through distance education. The Simon Fraser and UBC programs sound good. Too bad I live in Ontario. They do offer some of the courses via Distance Ed.<\/p>\n
Then, I have to worry about money. OSAP is not an option. So honestly, unless someone offers to pay for me, it could take forever to save money to take even a minimal amount of courses. I could look into scholarships. Some schools have programs where you submit writing as you enter the course, and then apply for the scholarship. But I can't really count on that, because the chances are low.<\/p>\n
The only realistic hope is that business picks up, and I use my commission to go back to school. It's so hard. There are all these obstacles and no real solution to overcome. It's sad that money has to be the reason behind putting this on hold. Somehow – I'll find a way.<\/p>\n
As for writing, if I could just make time, I feel there is a story bubbling below the surface. I think if I'm able to study more – different techniques, different writers -the floodgates will open and all the stories will come pouring out. Even though I feel I can write both horror & literary fiction, I feel that I would need to focus on one when I decide to go back to school.<\/p>\n
Yet as I've also said before, maybe I can merge the two to come up with my own cross-genre. I need to experiment. Maybe that's the boost I need.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
