Well I didn\u2019t exactly hit the ground running with NaNoWriMo<\/a> this year. I\u2019d been working on my outline off and on since like September but these last few weeks, with the launch of Bloody Bookish<\/a>, (and the thing I never thought would happen, burning out on said outline after the overload of too-many-worksheets-omg), it has taken me a few days to get into my writing groove.<\/p>\n

A new habit has surfaced though. Normally I need dark ambient, instrumental, music to write by. Nothing with lyrics. (And don\u2019t even get me started about how I snarl whenever the Mr. plays the guitar while I am trying to pound out the words. You\u2019d think he would know me well enough by now to realize that nothing except chocolate or a good re-run of The X-Files should interrupt my writing times).<\/p>\n

Suddenly, I find that I can really type up a storm while listening to techno, drum and bass, or industrial cranked through my headphones. A little (uptempo) Aes Dana to get my brain cells percolating. Nothing else works anymore.<\/p>\n

<\/object><\/p>\n

Maybe it allows me to quiet those inner voice enough to get out of my own away and just get the words down (because isn\u2019t that what NaNoWriMo is all about?)<\/p>\n

For whatever reason, this new habit sees my fingers flying furiously across the keyboard (thank god for that high school typing class). And with my plan on going for a 10k weekend to try to get a jump on my word count, I\u2019m going to do whatever it takes to stay on task.<\/p>\n

Because as all writers have discovered no doubt, one must strike while the iron is hot because our Muse can be a fickle so-and-so and best to get everything out of her while you can before she f*cks off and goes on an extended getaway.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
