{"id":2037,"date":"2012-03-05T10:21:01","date_gmt":"2012-03-05T15:21:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/maryrajotte.com\/blog\/?p=2037"},"modified":"2012-03-05T10:23:28","modified_gmt":"2012-03-05T15:23:28","slug":"music-monday-with-a-little-help-from-my-friends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maryrajotte.com\/blog\/2012\/03\/05\/music-monday-with-a-little-help-from-my-friends\/","title":{"rendered":"Music Monday: With A Little Help From My Friends"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I owe many of my musical discoveries to my fellow inkslingers.<\/p>\n<p>My good friend <a href=\"http:\/\/davidjrodger.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">David J Rodger<\/a> shared <a href=\"http:\/\/soundcloud.com\/underworld\/sets\/frankenstein-album\/s-S9DIR\" target=\"_blank\">this soundrack<\/a>, done by Underworld, for the live theatre performances of Danny Boyle\u2019s Frankenstein (with <strong>Jonny Lee Miller<\/strong> &#8211; swoon! and Benedict Cumberpatch)<\/p>\n<p>It starts out dreamlike, ethereal, lovely, melodic but then the clanging of bells add a stark jolt and the soundtrack begins to shift, to decay into something more haunting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Frankenstein House<\/strong> is the shortest of the tracks but it is lovely and warbling.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Fplaylists%2F659472&amp;show_artwork=true&amp;secret_token=s-S9DIR\" frameborder=\"no\" scrolling=\"no\" width=\"100%\" height=\"450\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>One of my main sources for new musical discoveries is fellow dark ambient lover <a href=\"http:\/\/barrynapierwriting.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Barry Napier<\/a>. Barry has introduced me to many new bands, including the wonderfully strange yet melodic <strong>Sleep Party People<\/strong>. This song is addictive! And I cannot stop watching those bouncing bunny ears as they really get into the song.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/H4R7_nefIpA?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"300\" height=\"182\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Lastly, I heard about <strong>Hecq<\/strong> via the NaNoWriMo forums. Their tracks range from dub step in one of my faves, <strong><em>Sura<\/em><\/strong>, to the creepy <strong><em>Dis<\/em><\/strong>. I\u2019m not sure why but it reminds me of the film version of <strong>The Shining<\/strong>. It is definitely atmospheric, and something that is sure to inspire.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/z6j6nqV7u2w?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"300\" height=\"182\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>So, what are your latest musical discoveries?
