The source material could be a short story, a book, or another poem.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve previously found hidden prose in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/maryrajotte.com\/blog\/2014\/06\/26\/altered-words-fixed-as-death\/\">Bram Stoker&#8217;s Dracula<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/maryrajotte.com\/blog\/2011\/03\/03\/altered-words-shadows-grow-long\/\">The Body by Stephen King<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/maryrajotte.com\/blog\/2010\/07\/23\/altered-words-the-dead-ones\/\">The Complete Fairy Tales of The Brothers Grimm<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/maryrajotte.com\/blog\/2010\/07\/06\/altered-words-dark-light\/\">Lord of the Flies by William Golding<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I&#8217;ve even found poems in works by some of my fellow authors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/maryrajotte.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/18\/altered-words-things-as-they-should-be\/\">The Liminal Man by Todd Keisling<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/maryrajotte.com\/blog\/2014\/07\/25\/altered-words-cold-fear\/\">Amunet by Rhiannon Frater<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/maryrajotte.com\/blog\/2014\/06\/26\/altered-words-these-dead\/\">Soundtrack to the End of the World by Anthony Rapino<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And guess what&#8230;I&#8217;ve found another!<\/p>\n<p>Nothing gets me into the Halloween spirit better than reading a little Poe. His writing is well-celebrated for its dark &amp; macabre subject matter, so it didn&#8217;t surprise me when I found this little gem in his poem The Sleeper.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\"
