But my story ideas usually have to simmer for a <strong>LONG TIME<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The problem with that is the longer I let them sit, the more the anticipation builds up in my mind and I start to doubt the idea. I worry I won\u2019t be able to make the finished project live up to the initial idea I had in my head. It\u2019s probably not a coincidence that every time I try to type \u201cwriting\u201d on my phone, it is auto-corrected to <strong>\u201cworrying\u201d<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/FcTdv3xQKhCIE\/giphy.gif\" width=\"480\" height=\"264\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Well, <strong>NO MORE OF THAT<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the spirit of my goal to let go of those things that are holding me back (even harmful mindsets), I\u2019m trying to <strong>doubt myself less<\/strong>. <strong>Stop<\/strong> working on things that aren\u2019t flowing at the moment. <strong>Cutting<\/strong> what doesn\u2019t serve the story at hand.<\/p>\n<p>Case in point: I\u2019ve been trying to rework an old story. Trying to look at it from a different perspective. But it\u2019s still <strong>missing that <em>something<\/em><\/strong>. And I\u2019m not enjoying the process one bit. So, instead of struggling with it, I\u2019m letting it go. Filing it away for later, in case the right puzzle piece comes to me. I have a million other seeds I can sow for ideas.<\/p>\n<p>For now, I\u2019m <strong>killing my darlings<\/strong>. Or at least\u2026putting them on ice. Because if you\u2019re not having fun writing, what\u2019s the point?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I can write fast.
