I was sorting through old stacks of random scribblings and came across a manilla envelope with some old family reunion newsletters. There was also a clipping of a short bio about my grandmother, also a writer, that I would like to share.<\/p>\n

Reading this made me feel very lucky that I am physically ABLE to write, whether I choose to on a particular day or not.<\/p>\n

Poor health won't get her down: local author keeps on writing<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Bernadette Rajotte, a popular children's writer and long-time citizen of northern Ontario, recalls that when she moved as a child in 1915, the only transportation was the ferryboat, stagecoach or — in the winter — horse and cutter.<\/p>\n

Many of her stories are based on her years as a young girl and they continue to thrill children today. Mrs. Rajotte also often writes special occassion stories for the local papers. She enjoys writing them and also enjoys the responses she gets from readers young and old.
Mrs. Rajotte says that if you have a special dream, cling to it and work hard to realize that dream. This is what she did, and one only has to read her stories to be delighted that this woman stuck with dream.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Rajotte has been in poor health lately. She has been in hospital so much of the past year that she says she had just about given up hope of ever writing again.<\/p>\n

But late one night several weeks ago she made a decision that she was not going back to the hospital, and has stayed home and gradually regained some of her strength. She has since continued to write actively and has just finished preparing a story for Christmas to be published in The Standard.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
