{"id":93,"date":"2007-11-22T12:42:55","date_gmt":"2007-11-22T19:42:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/maryrajotte.com\/blog\/2007\/11\/22\/like-pulling-teeth\/"},"modified":"2007-11-22T12:42:55","modified_gmt":"2007-11-22T19:42:55","slug":"like-pulling-teeth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maryrajotte.com\/blog\/2007\/11\/22\/like-pulling-teeth\/","title":{"rendered":"Like Pulling Teeth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I dreamt last night that <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Silverfish\" target=\"_blank\">silverfish<\/a> had found my chapters, character sketches, plot worksheets, and various other notes for my book and were happily feeding on them and turning them into piles of dust.&nbsp; Not exactly a comforting thought as I sit here, more than 21,000 words behind schedule and with only 8 days to reach 50,000.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/maryrajotte.com\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/postphotos\/firstsnow.gif\" border=\"0\" alt=\"First Snow\" title=\"First Snow\" width=\"250\" height=\"188\" align=\"right\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I am obviously not going to stop working on it once <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nanowrimo.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">NaNoWriMo <\/a>is over and done with.&nbsp; Really, I knew going into this that 1- it was going to be a battle to find the time to do it in the first place, and 2 &#8211; that I was really just using the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nanowrimo.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">NaNoWriMo<\/a> format to kick-start my book and get me into some sort of schedule. <\/p>\n<p>I was just hoping to not fall so far behind. I really don&#39;t want the end of the month to arrive and still be behind.<\/p>\n<p>All I can do today is finish my other work, put on my headphones to try and drown out the incessant drilling going on a few condos over, stare out the window periodically at the new snow, and let my fingers fly across the keyboard for as long as I can.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"currently\">Music: Clint Mansell &#8211; The Fountain Soundtrack: <em>First Snow<\/em><br \/> <em>(click to play)<\/em> &nbsp;<\/p>\n<pre>[audio:Clint Mansell -
