I wanted to be drafting by now. But I\u2019m still working on adding new plot details to the folk horror novella. I\u2019d already drafted the first 8 chapters, so even though my intention was to just go in and add the new details, it turned into me revising-as-I-go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I like to do this, mind you. I like having a clean chapter by the end of the draft instead of notes like \u201cmake this better\u201d or [RESEARCH THIS!]. It makes that first round of revisions go much smoother. But it does take a lot longer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I finished my last editing course, I was like \u201cYES! Finally! A month of uninterrupted writing time!\u201d. But, as always, I\u2019m down to my last week before course studies ramp up again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All I can go is keep plugging away. The good news? The query letter & synopsis for The Bone Key sequel is almost ready. So, once I get that off my plate, querying the sequel becomes my side project. Then I can spend most of my time drafting the novella.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But why does my brain immediately whisper to me that I can fill that book-shaped hole in my schedule by starting to outline another new book???<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And why is my novella now turning into something novel-length??<\/p>\n\n\n\n
