THE WEEKLY BREW: The Creative Spirit
Why do I always feel behind? Even taking a few days off to enjoy summer makes me feel guilty when I get back to my desk and realize I haven’t accomplished half the things I set out to accomplish last week.
Much of my time is being spent getting ready for dReadCon, hosted by Michelle from Eerie River Publishing. I’m printing zines, brochures, signs, and creating some color variants of the covers for Frightmarish Zine, which I’ll have at my table. I’m also making a few trinkets with some moth and owl pendants I bought last year, which are going to be super cool! It’ll give me something to talk about when I draw a blank on what to say about my book 😀
They say you should face your fears. And I will…but I’ll be wearing black while I do it! LOL!! I guess every now and then, even the most reclusive creature (aka…Me!) has to venture from the shadowy corners of the Writing Nook.
So, along with convention prep, I’m getting back to the novella this week, while also revamping my freelance website so I can start taking on new projects. Add another thing to the pile, right? Even when I’m buried in projects, I keep reminding myself this is what I love doing.
I also need to remember that taking a break isn’t a bad thing, it’s a necessity to nurture the creative spirit. We all need to take breaks now and then, not only to refill the well, but to get outside and live so we have something to write about.
