First Days

So, I’m 2 weeks into writing the new book. Even though my outline isn’t as complete as I wanted it before starting, things are going fairly well. I’m almost through the rough draft of my first act (4 chapters). I’m writing less than I would on a normal project (I’m averaging around 1200 words/day) but with all the other things going on (freelance articles; reading work from fellow classmates; still more book research), I’m okay with taking a slow approach.

Since I’ll be sharing my book in rough form with my classmates and I have to deliver a specific word count to them very month, I want to make sure I save time every month to at least do a rough pass over my work. I know they’re supposed to see it rough, to help me pinpoint where I’m lacking, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to try to at least make it look a bit better than a few ideas shoved together 🙂

As for my witches, things have already taken a turn. Outside threats have made themselves known and now it is up to the Covens to decide how they are going to keep themselves safe, not just from those who want to do them harm, but to preserve their powers.

Luckily, I haven’t really been stuck yet. I’ve had a few low word count days due to illness (that is still plaguing me) but thankfully, my story is moving forward.
