Witchery – Day 1

After 1 month of preparation and outlining, the first day of work on the new book is done.
I admit it – my outline still isn’t done. BUT I do have the rough outline, aka general beats for each chapter, are complete.
I like to do a scene card for each chapter in Scrivener, and I include the characters, setting, photos for inspiration and then sketch out the beats so when I sit down to write, I know where I’m going.
I wrote about half a chapter today. I know I’ll probably cut the first few chapters because it always takes me a bit to get into the chapter. But it’s good to write something new – and to finally dive into the book I’ve spent so long planning (I’ve been brainstorming it since September!).
It won’t be called Witchery, as the title of this post suggests. But that does give you an idea of the writerly shenanigans I’ll be getting into over the next 6 months as I write this book with my Novel In A Year classmates!
