March 2024 Intentions

Is the year flying by for everyone or is it just me?

Time is strange, isn’t it? We’re almost heading into spring, but it’s been a pretty mild winter here in Toronto. We’ve had a few snowstorms, but they mostly melt within a few days. Honestly, I can’t wait for grilling season!

But, before those lazy park days, I’ve got a lot to do! I had a lot of things on my To DO list last month, so let’s check on those first to see how I did.

 

Write Witches Book 2

I’m over 55k and almost halfway through the rough drafted chapters I worked on in January. Things are going well but I have to pick up the pace if I want to hit my goal of finishing this draft by the end of March!

Write 1 folklore entry /week

Nope. Ugh. I’ve been so focused on the book. I might have to move this project to later in the year if I want to give it the attention it needs. Maybe NaNoWriMo?

Write story for Frightmarish 9

Again, I didn’t work on a new story but I did pin down my focus for issues coming this year! I’ve only had 1 subscriber re-subscribe so far. I know people might wait until the new issue is out, so hopefully I’ll see more interest then. Hoping to get this done by the end of March, too.

Design Sister Moon website

Done! It’s bare bones right now. I still need to add more posts!

Outline Reaper Book 2

As I think I mentioned, Reaper Book 2 kind of stalled out. I didn’t have a solid idea and I want to keep moving on the witch book. I’m okay with that.

Edit Reaper Book 1

I think this is going to be more involved than I anticipated. I thought I’d cut a few chapters, work in the important details from those chapters and then re-read it. I think it needs more help than that.

Promote The Bone Key

Yup! I’ve been sharing teasers to social media. I’m trying to find the balance between piquing interest and not overwhelming my feed with promos. Maybe once I have cover art to share I’ll ramp up my efforts. 

Alright, time for my March goals!

• Continue writing The…oops!!! I almost spilled the secret! I do have a title for the 2nd witch book, but I won’t share that just yet!
• Work on the COOL NEW THEME for Frightmarish! I have ideas! I feel excited again!
• Design some products for Sister Moon! I’m thinking mugs, totes, stickers – all with the triple moon design on my logo
• I also have a Secret Project I’m working on! This one is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time!
• Editing Reaper Book 1 is going to be…messy I think
• Keep promoting The Bone Key – what kind of teasers do you like to see for upcoming books?
• I know reading a writing craft book might not seem like exploration, but for me, I think it is! I need to bring a little something new to my storytelling

So, there you go! Okay…so maybe I do have lofty goals for March. Wish me luck!!
