THE WEEKLY BREW: July 8, 2025
I’m hitting the ground running with my July Intentions. I started drafting the folk horror novella yesterday after spending the last few months outlining.
I went through the Zero Draft last week, adding in the setting and character details to each chapter (basically just listing which characters are present in each chapter, as well as the timeline/day it takes place, time of day, location, weather etc). My Zero Draft ended up just under 20K! My intention is to finish the first draft by the end of July, so I need to keep at it!
I wanted to be done by now…but the outline took longer than I expected. But I’m not going to guilt myself into feeling like I’m behind. Sometimes, ideas take longer to brew than intended.
This month, I also want to wrap up those final nagging revisions to The Bone Key sequel. I’m also pitching a Dystopian horror novel through SmallPitch on Bluesky, so fingers crossed I get some interest!
I’ve also got a few publishers in mind to send it to, so I’m putting together my submissions for those (everyone seems to have different guidelines so I need to get it right!).
My birthday is coming up next week, so I might take a few days off. I feel like I need the break!
Hope everyone’s doing well! Thanks for reading!
