June 2024 Intentions

Summer’s (almost) here and I’m trying to stay motivated, but I’m already daydreaming about running away to cottage country!

Until I win a few million or pen a bestseller, I’ll still only be doing daytrips, which also means I need to keep at my projects.

Before I share some updates, let’s see how I did for May.

MY GOALS:

EDIT: The Bone Key

I finished my developmental edits last week. Now waiting for line edits. Fingers crossed I get to see my cover soon!!

WRITE: Witchy Book 2

I didn’t do much writing on this book in May, but I did brainstorm some new ideas. I felt a few of the chapters were becoming too repetitive, so I decided to cut them, work the important info into other chapters and move up the action of the 2nd act. Hoping that will move things along.

WRITE: Frightmarish 9

I made progress! Still on track to get it done, printed and shipped out this month.

DESIGN: Secret Project 1

I didn’t get to that in May.

CREATE: Secret Project 2

I did some legwork on this one, but I think I’ll have to push it to the backburner. I always intended for it to be a Fall project anyway.

Okay, let’s see what I want to get done in June!

JUNE 2024 GOALS

EDIT: The Bone Key

Line edits should be coming soon, which means I’m that much closer to launch day! Only 5 months! I can’t believe it!

WRITE: Witch Book 2

Now that I have a new plan of attack, I can’t wait to get back to it. I Zero Drafted most of the book, but for some reason, I’ve been having a hard time getting back into the flow. I have to just keep at it, I think.

WRITE: Frightmarish 9

I made some good progress on the zine in May! I think that helped with my momentum. Sometimes, just starting something, even if you only get a small amount done, helps.

DESIGN: Secret Project 1

I have some research ahead of me. I think this is another case of needing to just get started to get that momentum flowing.

EDIT: Reaper

I mentioned in a previous post that I unexpectedly found myself editing my Reaper book again. I had re-outlined it back in November, I think, to cut some bloat. Now I’m actually DOING IT. Hoping I can wrap it up this month so I can start sending it out again.

OTHER THAN THAT

I have a few other little things to do this month. Send out my newsletter. Create more promos for The Bone Key that I can post after my cover reveal. Organize my other promos (like bookstores to contact about carrying my book).

I slowly getting back to my routine. Some days are still hard. I’m still trying to figure out how to live in a world without my Mom’s physical presence. I know she’ll always be with me. I just miss her voice, her laugh, her hugs. And I know she only wanted me to be happy. So I’ll hold onto that, too.
