Free Bird

So, I can't believe I haven't mentioned the craziness that happened on our last road trip!

On our previous trip, we were stopped along a minor highway to turn left. Some jerk sped by on the gravel, and a big chunk flew up into the open window and hit me in the side of the face. Well, after that everytime a bird would race across the highway in front of us, we would joke that next I was going to get hit in the head with a bird like Fabio did.

Well, it almost happened! Not on that trip, but on this last one! We were going like 80 or 90km, and like a flash I see a bird coming toward me so I'm like, "Woah!" and ducked just in time, because it flew into the car!!!  Chris was like, "What was that?!" And I look back and see it sitting on the back dash and I go, "There's a BIRD in the CAR." So we had to pull over and coax it out. What a crazy thing!

We figured we would see a moose for sure because it was just too crazy an incident to happen. But – no moose. I did see a deer though – a male with HUGE antlers sitting one lane away from us driving down a two-lane highway. It was sitting in some trees right beside the road. We tried turning around and going back but it was gone, probably because my shriek of "DEER!" scared it off. It was the coolest though, it turned it's head and looked right at me. The only other deer I've seen had no antlers at all, so this was pretty cool, and so close.

Ahh…..summer!
