Legacy

Working on my latest story tonight (about sinister small town rituals) I had a funny thought.

My grandmother was also a writer, and many of her stories were about small town life, too.  The only difference is hers were more poignant, definitely with a literary feel to them, whereas mine are more along the sinister happenings in small towns.

It's interesting how I inherited her ability to write, but how my very different personality, influences and voice have sort of taken what she started with and turned them into some twisted alternate universe from hers.
