End Of The Year Reflections

As the year comes to a close, I’ve been looking back on everything I did in 2019.

Seeing so many people post their accomplishments in publishing – agents, book deals, stories published, book releases – it can feel a lot like a comparison game.

As much as I try not to do that, I still do.

But even as I didn’t have anything new published this year, I realized that I did accomplish a lot. This year was all about my taking classes, learning new techniques, and not only finding but exploring my writing voice.

I feel more confident than ever about my writing. I know it takes time but I won’t ever quit and I feel like 2020 is going to be filled with great news. And a lot of hard work.

I have a lot of goals, but I’ll save that for another post. Today, I’ll pat myself on the back for the work I did in 2019 and remember all the story seeds I turned into ideas; all those days I never thought I’d be able to translate the idea in my head onto paper; and all those stories I finished & sent out into the world. Or, better yet, that glorious feeling when someone reads what you’ve written and tell you how much they enjoyed it.

There’s nothing better than that.
