Killing It
I feel like I sold myself short in my last post. It was a little too focused on what I didn’t accomplish, but looking back, I did a lot this year.
I took 2 writing classes, in which I wrote 11 stories. I also write another 3 stories after my classes finished. Most importantly, I feel like I got a better hold on my writing voice.
I took on a really cool freelancing project that is still ongoing.
I did a big chunk of edits on my Reaper book (which are still ongoing). I realized I still really love this book and hope to keep up the momentum in 2020.
I also started outlining a new book, which I start working on Jan. 1st! Daily class assignments! Reading & critiquing the work of 6 other classmates! 6 months of writing! 4 months of editing! It’s going to be intense…and I cannot wait!
I also started posting part of my serial thriller, Thicker Than Water, on Wattpad. I know…I need to get back to that.
One of my stories made Ellen Datlow’s Recommended Reading List for Best Horror Of The Year! SO EXCITING! My next goal is to get a story in the anthology.
I also had the undying support & love of my writerly friends at The Midnight Society – thank you Jolene, Brian, Amy, Kathy, Erica, Jenna, Faith & Vicki!! I don’t know where I’d be without you.
Thanks also go out to my critique partner Cina, who is an incredible support & unrivaled talent.
I made new friends in my classes and cannot thank them enough for their feedback and enthusiasm for my fiction.
To all of you who took the time to read my work this year, who offered your input & friendship, I am forever grateful.
Here’s to a killer 2020!
