Book Revisions: The End Is…

How Revisions Are Going In The Writing Nook

I’ve been steadily working on revisions for the sequel to The Bone Key since February using Jessica Brody’s method. I’m in my 2nd round of revisions, with 1 more to go (fingers crossed). My plan was to finish everything by the end of April, but I’ve stalled a bit, so it might be mid-May by the time I’m done.

I’m wrapping up scene-level notes I made over the last few weeks, targeting pacing, scene structure, and any plot details that still need to be worked out. Next up, I’ll be doing the dreaded Line Edit (polishing sentences, scrutinizing word choice, making sure all descriptions and settings are fully fleshed out)! I feel like that’s going to take the longest…nitpicking every word choice. But all in all, overall revisions have gone pretty well. Of course, I’m the only one who has read the manuscript so far…

Not to say that is hasn’t had its challenges. Or that I’m not starting to feel burned out and ready to work on something new…but I’m also steadily outlining a new book and a novella so I’ll be ready to hit the ground running when this book is done.

So yeah, the end is in sight…but so are new things, which keeps me going when I start to feel like every day is exactly the same in the Writing Nook.

Talk to you next week!
