NOTES FROM THE WRITING NOOK – A Week In The Life

I saw another author sharing their day-to-day and I thought I’d do the same this week!

MONDAY: Schedules & Admin

I try to post these updates every Monday, so my first order of business after a shower and breakfast was to write this post. I also set up my planner on Monday mornings over coffee, which means going through last week’s pages to see what I’ve completed and what still needs doing. Then I check ClickUp (where I track all my to-dos, deadlines, projects & tasks) to see what else I need to do this week. I also want to get in some outlining on a novella idea I have, so that will be my afternoon task. I also have some admin stuff to do (finish answering questions for 2 interviews). This is also mid-month, so I do a quick recap in my planner to see how far I am in my various projects. It helps keep me on track.

TUESDAY: Revisions

I generally work on edits on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Last week, I didn’t get as much done as I’d hoped, and I’m behind my self-imposed schedule, so I need to get moving. I already know I won’t hit my end-of-April deadline, but maybe mid-May, if I keep at it.

WEDNESDAY: Class & More Admin

I have class on Wednesday. This week is the final class (in Structural & Stylistic Editing) before next week’s 3-hour exam, so it’s a relief to almost be done, but I’m anxious about that exam! I’ll be doing more admin stuff Wednesday (putting together a giveaway, creating an ad, updating the SEO on my website).

THURSDAY: More Revisions

More editing to come. Hopefully this will be CHs 16-20 (of 30). I might add in more admin/blog posts, but also kind of want to focus only on edits so I can get them done.

FRIDAY: You guessed it – More Revisions

I’m adding in an extra day of editing this week so I can really make some progress. The only downside is the older chapters are messier than earlier ones, so I’m not sure how far I’ll get. I’ll keep pushing!

Final Thoughts

This is actually a tame week compared to others. I’m trying to clear the decks a little and push some things until after I finish revisions. I wish I could just write and not have all the admin stuff, but it’s a necessary evil (until I have that bestseller!).

I’m also ready to be done this book, so that’s more motivation for me to get things done.

Have A Great Week!
