Not All Business: The New-Look NaNoWriMo

Things have been a little too serious over here so I thought I’d talk about something a little more casual…like the new NaNoWriMo site!

Have you checked it out yet? It looks really clean and modern!

I’ve been taking part in NaNoWriMo since 2008. Every time I’m convinced I’m too busy, I somehow end up taking part in some way, shape or form.

As I set my goals for 2019, I kind of figured I wouldn’t be taking part this year. I’m revising a book and outlining the book I’ll write next year, so squeezing in another 50K on something just seems insane.

BUT with the new NaNo site, you can track ALL your projects, not just ones for NaNo or Camp NaNo. Of course, you won’t get any of the perks or swag like you do if you win NaNo proper (by writing 50K in November) but this is PERFECT for my needs.

I can still track my progress, apply that time to the project I’ll be working on anyway (novel revisions) and still be part of the NaNo Community at large (even if I’m a bit of a NaNo Rebel by editing during November instead of writing new words, though, let’s face it, a lot of editing IS writing new words. Especially when you cut half your book and have to fill in those missing chapters. Oops.)

So, that’s what I’ll be doing – setting up a new project and scheduling it for November.

Are you taking part in NaNo this year? What are you working on?
