October 2019 Goals

Wait a minute…what happened? How is it October already?

Don’t get me wrong…October is my favorite month of the year. The leaves are starting to change, there’s enough of a chill in the air that coffee and cozy sweaters become even more indulgent. But it feels like time is just moving too quickly.

I swear, once summer comes, the rest of the year flies by.

I don’t want fall to go by so fast, not when I know what’s on the other side of it…5 months of cold, snow and ice. BOO!

Alas, I’m trying not to think about that right now because I’ve got TOO MUCH TO DO! So, let’s see what I accomplished last month and what’s on tap for October.

SEPT 2019 GOALS

  • Brainstorm new novel
  • Finish Urban Legends story for Spooky Showcase
  • Expand Folk Horror story
  • Revise 4 chapters of Thicker Than Water
  • Revise Reaper novel

Even though it didn’t happen until this past weekend, I finally made some progress on my new book. I’m at the very VERY early stages of this book, even though I’m expanding it from a short story. I’m pretty excited about it, though, because I’ve already had some really cool ideas to add to it!

And…I DID finish my short story for the Spooky Showcase hosted by my good friend and Midnight Society pal Jolene Haley. I’m not sure which day in October my story will go live, but the showcase has already launched with the story Resurrection Mary by author Mary Lamphere. Be sure to check it out!

I didn’t get to work on expanding my folk horror story but it is one of the top 2 tasks I’ll be tackling this month, as I want to submit it to a market in November.

Unfortunately, I haven’t worked on Thicker Than Water in a while. BUT I’ve been getting some reader comments over on Wattpad, which is inspiring me to get back to work on it asap.

As for the Reaper novel, uh…it’s still on the backburner. It WILL be my NaNoWriMo project, which might actually be a good thing. Once I finish these short stories, my focus will only be on revising and finishing that book!

NOW – my goals for October

  • Finish and submit serial killer story
  • Finish and submit folk horror story
  • Outline more of my new book
  • Prepare for NaNoWriMo

I’m only setting 4 goals this month. I consider any revision on Thicker Than Water a bonus.

I’ve had a lot of freelance work this past month, with more already waiting for me in my inbox, so I feel really busy and a little behind on everything, but I’m just going to push through and keep striving.

So, what are your goals for the month? Share and let’s cheer one another on!

As a bonus to all patrons, stay tuned for tomorrow’s post, where I’ll share something that might help you achieve your own goals!
