THE WEEKLY BREW: June 16, 2025

I made good progress on a few things last week in the Writing Nook.

I’m up to Chapter 9 in the Zero Draft of the folk horror novella, which is great! The only problem…I felt a few of my chapters were either too repetitive or didn’t have enough happening, so I had to stop and do more brainstorming. I think I’ve come up with a fun new thread, so I’ll spend some time this week weaving it into the plot.

I’d intended to already have the outline and a rough draft done by now – bahaha! What was I thinking? Plotting and drafing an entire novel in a month? That was ambitious! My plan now is to finish the outline/Zero Draft this month, then spend July-September writing and beginning revisions. I’m already looking ahead to fall projects, so I’d love to have even a rough draft of the novella by then, because outlining another novel is going to take up all my brainspace.

Other than that, I started a new article series on my Patreon last week called Storycraft, where I pull an oracle card and create a few writing prompts based on the card’s theme, symbols & meanings. Goals This Week:

• Finish The Hexford Lore witchy newspaper and send out the first edition (only 1 article left to write!)
• Continue the novella Zero Draft
• Finish and send out a new freebie related to The Bone Key to my newsletter subscribers
