THE WEEKLY BREW: June 23, 2025

Wow! I did really well on the Zero Draft of the folk horror novella last week! I finished 8 chapters, added a few new characters, introduced some new back story for my main character…and added to my research list. Mostly the research involves setting and daily life for the time period (late 1600s). I’m still debating the setting – originally I was going to set it in a rural village in Scotland. Still thinking about that one.

I’m pretty much done The Hexford Lore – mostly it’s just proofreading, and then I can print them and get them in the mail to my patrons. Uploading the digital version will be quick & easy. I think I’ll be doing this quarterly, like my zine was. Monthly is a little ambitious, especially when I have so many books I want to write.

I didn’t get to that freebie I’m making related to The Bone Key, so I want to get back to that too. It’s disgustingly hot here for the next few days, so I’ll be holed up in the Writing Nook with lots of iced coffee, working in air conditioned bliss.

This weeks goals:

• Print and mail out The Hexford Lore (and post it to Patreon)
• Finish the novella Zero Draft
• Finish and send out a new freebie related to The Bone Key to my newsletter subscribers
• Finish 2 new posts for Patreon (My Gothic Grimoire & Altered Words)
