Altered Words: Beautiful Death

Hey guys! It’s time for another Altered Words post!

ABOUT ALTERED WORDS

In case you are new to these posts, Altered Words is my take on “found fiction” or blackout poetry, where I take a story, poem, or other literary work and try to “find” a poem within by simply crossing out the words I do not want to include in my piece

WHAT I FOUND!

You can’t swing a dead rat without hearing the latest Stephen King news – hahaha!

Not that I’m complaining. He’s one of my favourite authors and I saw him in October on the book tour for Sleeping Beauties with his son, Owen.

So, in honour of that, I picked up my copy of Revival, chose a random page to see what was hidden inside.

Here’s what I found…

BEAUTIFUL DEATH
From pg. 429 of Revival by Stephen King

The storm was a tarnished curtain
of rain;
The room a nest
Of shadows;
the still figure,
beautiful death.
Her alabaster skin,
luxuriant chestnut hair,
as perfect
as any cameo.
